Lisa French

Lisa French is Professor and Dean in the School of Media and Communication at RMIT University in Melbourne, and institution which is renowned for its journalism and film programs. A leading scholar in film and media, her expertise spans screen culture, journalism, and gender representation. She has extensive experience in the industry, having directed the St Kilda Film Festival, served nine years on the board of the Australian Film Institute (AFI), contributed to Screen Australia’s ‘Gender Matters’ Taskforce and made films. She is on the Editorial Board of The Conversation and co-chairs a UNESCO global research network on gender, media, and ICTs. She has written extensively on Australian cinema and has critic status with The Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA).
